Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2013!

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year for 2013!!! At least my 2012 ended on a good note!!! Hopefully this year will turn out to be a great one for all of us. My resolution this year is to stop over reacted and stop complaining so much LOL. I don't think it's going to take too long for me to break my resolution. That's because I have three daughters who are off the chain LOL.. Since I got back from Florida these three girls have been acting out, but I guess that's what children do, regardless of their age. I pray that I can hold myself down for at least a couple of weeks LOL. We'll see what happens! Let's talk about my trip to Florida...

Miami Beach

Early Tuesday morning, I was getting ready to go to the airport. I was so excited that I was going to Miami to see my dad, my sister, my cousins, and my close friends. It had been such a long time since I had seen them. I arrived in Miami and took a cab to the beach where my dad and my sister were expecting me. It was a thrill to see them. We talked about the past and we talked about the things that were going on, but we also talked about my illness. My dad is 80 years old and he looks great!!! I hope I can reach 80 looking like that. My sister is 60 years old and she still looks good for her age as well. She's a dedicated worker who works hard at whatever she's doing. She really means a lot to me. She is the sole person my dad depends on in Miami. She takes care of my dad so well, it's incredible!!! We spent some brother and sister time together, food shopping, and catching up.

As for my dad, we talked about my mother and my sister who is his daughter (RIP). My real father was never there for us or involved with our family because he was in the Puerto Rican mafia. My step-dad, who raised me since I was 1 year old, never treated me like a stepchild always treated me like his real son. Unfortunately, he left my mom a couple years later. I got to understand more about my family's past, how my mother escaped from Cuban revolutionary style (which I will write in my book), and how my life is what it is today because of her. He speaks so highly about my mom. I was so happy to see him.

After I saw my dad, I right away went to the beach. All I wanted to do was get a suntan, so at least when I got back to New York City I would have one of the most incredibly beautiful suntans ever. It was about 78'degrees and people were still on the beach. As I walked down the South Beach, I noticed two things: one, there were a lot of guys wearing LeBron James jerseys, and 2, there were a lot of topless girls. OMG! I was kind of nervous about it, but what the hell, that's South Beach for you!

Miami Beach has a lot of history. I remember going back in the 80s. The Beach was just plain and simple. I also remember that they were planning to put a casino to give it an uplift , but the elderly shut it down. The only thing that South Beach had was the fifth street gym, where the famous Muhammad Ali used to train. Someone took a chance and started buying all these hotels and then they started remodeling them into an Art Deco styles. More investors started investing into these properties and they were remodeling all these hotels. People started getting familiar with it, and it became the biggest tourist attraction in the country. The world-famous South Beach. that's the place to be, with all the night clubs, the tourists, the parties and the restaurants. Yes, this is what it's all about in South Beach, Florida!!!

Pastor Frank Diaz, a spiritual moment at Miami beach!!!!!

It was a spiritual day while in Miami. I called up a few old friends of mine. One of them happened to be Pastor Frank Diaz.. Yeah that's right he's a pastor....

Frank, is the founder and the creator of the legendary pop group Expose. He had did wonderful things back in the day, but got caught up in bad thing as well. He shares his past and experience now through the Word of GOD!!! I met with Frank on 15st and Ocean Drive, right in front of the famous scene of Scarface, where he was preaching in front 20 homeless individuals and talking about the Word of God. It was a great experience knowing that he was talking the real deal. I am so proud of him. Through the scriptures and through his words I could feel the Holy Spirit among all of us. Towards the end of his preaching, at least eight of those individuals got up and prayed with Frank to repent their sins. After his little service in the park, we fed all the homeless people. Man, that moment I felt so important...that I was doing something special. We talked a little bit. I got to meet his friends. We prayed and I moved on.

JESSMARK PRODUCTION!!!!

Friday afternoon, after the beach, I was being picked up by my old partner, close friend and brother, Mark Anthony Roofe. We have worked with numerous artist' back in the late 80's. I remember working with music specialist, home of Debbie Deb, freestyle, Pretty Tony and of course my group FAST LANE. I was the first artist in Miami to sing bass rap. My hit Record was called "Young Ladies" in 1984. I was only 19, but the rest of that story will be in my book. You get to read all the good things about what I did for this record company. Mark picked me up and we went to his studio. I got to see his recording studio and of course he tried to convince me to come back to Florida to work with him. He's working with Quincy Jones who is a great man. I am highly honored to know that he knows who I am. Mark is also working with the Jacksons, but he told me he's been with that project since Michael passed. I already told him that Jacksons are discombobulated they don't even know when will that project will be done. He's working with this new artist named Aron Sims, too. Now, that artist has potential!!! He reminds me a lot of R. Kelly when we first met him with the potential he had. It's the same direction Sims is going.

I told Mark that I need time... First, I need to have the surgery, recoup (which will take another eight months), then at least another six months to move. That means I need to take care of everything before I move back to Florida. All my kids don't want to go, so at least I have time to set them up before I move. That's approximately 2 years in the mix for me to decide to move back. Of course, I don't want to stay New York any more, but I need to really consider if this is whats right for me. It was great to see Mark.

My Cousin's

The next day, I went to my cousin Eloy's house. He was my favorite baseball player. Boy, he had this curveball that was unbelievable. Unfortunately, he got hurt, so he couldn't play baseball any more. We talked about his beautiful daughters who are in Honduras and how much he misses them.

The day after that was Christmas Eve. You know where I was, catching some sun until it went down. After that, I got ready to go to a Christmas Eve party. I met with my Colombian family, which is my cousins in law Maria's family. I know them all and they are so cool. There are a lot of them so I don't remember all of their names... that's why I called them “Colombian family” LOL! They had so much food and they even gave me a Christmas gift, which was a surprise. I enjoyed my night..

It was around 10:30 pm which my favorite and lovely cousin Lily pick me up.. It was great to see my cousin after such a long time. We got to her house, which was beautiful, and I got to meet her husband, Lazaro. Her best friend was there, Mirta. We talked and laughed just like old times.

Merry Christmas!!!!

The next day was Christmas. The moment we got up, Lily and I were already playing practical jokes. She was calling “white boy from New York City trying to get some sun”, “red lobster”, “watermelon”, and all types of names. She was just laughing so much! I could see that I made her day. She needed that. She was going through a lot of stress and I was able to help see her through. Around noon we went to go see her kids David, Lil Lily, Chris and Tatiana, and of course, her grandkids. We took pictures and then took a ride to West Palm Beach to go see my aunt, my mother's sister. She has a little bit of Alzheimer's, but she did remember me which was great. We ate dinner and then drove back to Miami. Of course, my cousin was still trying to make fun of me. She even took a picture of me sleeping in the backseat and posted it on Instagram.. She's the only one that can get away with all that...that's how much I love her. It was getting close to time for me to come back to New York City and I could see in Lily's face how much she was already going to miss me. I knew I was going to miss her, too. Those tears were already coming out of my eyes knowing that I was going to leave her. When the day came and I was about to leave, I couldn't even say goodbye to her. I know we felt the energy together like old times, but I had to go back to New York to be with my kids... I Love You Cuz!!!

New Year's Eve!!!!!

We prepared ourselves to go to New Year's Eve party at my cousin Maritza's house, The Diaz Family!!! In the past four years we been going to her house. We made it like a tradition to go every year. As we arrived, we learned that some of our family members were sick, so unfortunately they couldn't make it, but my cuz Maritza made the best of it! My cousin, Diana, and her daughter were there. My uncle from PR was there, but he wasn't feeling well either. We drank, the New Year came in, then everyone went on their way. I went home, too.

Yes 2013! A new year! I'm going to end it like this until next time. I will talk about my London trip, Philly trip, and I'm on my way to Dominican Republic today. When I get back I will write another blog before I have my surgery. Once again, until next time my friends.

One Love Jesse Jess Diaz DFE!
